MEET THE OWNER

Akyra Thompson first started doing hair in high school as a way to better understand how to care for her own natural, curly hair. She received her cosmetology license in 2009 and, after seeing a need within her local community for stylists with culturally diverse experience, focused her efforts on providing a space for people of all hair types and textures to have their hair properly cared for and well-styled. In 2019, Akyra got her certification as a hair loss specialist so she could extend her services to those with chronic hair loss or alopecia, with the ultimate goal of truly being able to provide everyone with natural solutions and beautiful style.

Akyra is passionate about natural, healthy hair and, after finding that many hair care products contain toxins and chemicals that harm hair and negatively impact the body, she committed to a holistic approach that combines style with wellness. Through Wholeness Hair Clinic, Akyra offers only the best products to her valued clients along with a unique approach that embraces each client’s naturally beautiful hair and helps to boost their self-image. “You don’t have to sacrifice beauty for health,” Akyra says. “Health and beauty can work together to create wholeness, and that’s what we’re all about here - Healthy. Whole. Beautiful.”
